Programs/Policy, Protection for Child Rights.
Every State/ Province and Union territory in India
falls under The Commissions for the Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005
provides for the Constitution of a National and State Commissions for
protection of Child Rights. The functions and powers of the National and State
Commissions will be safeguard the law and
constitutional provisions for Protection of Child Rights. It also helps in
making necessary recommendation for the effective implementation of those
rights. This commission also looks after inquires of child rights and necessary
proceedings. It also helps in establishment child courts for speed trials for
any kind of violation in child rights.
National Policies and Program established for the
protection of child rights.
Developing country like India is trying to develop
centric policies addressing the issues of Child Survival, Child Development and
Child Protection. The some of the important policies amongst them are,
1. NPC
(National Policy for Children), 1974
It is the first official document which is issued
concerning about the needs and rights of the children’s in our nation. The main
goal of the policy is to ensure and take the next step towards the constitutional
provisions for children’s and the UN Declaration of Rights are implemented.
2. NEP
(National Policy on Education), 1986
This policy was formed to work and reserve the
educational rights of the children’s in India, it specially emphasizes on
removal of disparities and to equalize educational opportunities in India. This
policy has introduced scholarships, adult education, incentives for poor
families to send their children to school regularly, development of new
institutions and providing housing and services.
3. NPCL
(National Policy on child Labor), 1987
This policy is specially formed for tacking and
removing the serious problem of child labor from India. Legislative action plan
is formed for focusing and convergence of general programs which benefits the
children’s against child labor.
4. NHP
(National Health Policy), 2002
This policy is formed to achieve the main objective
of acceptable standard of good health amongst the general population of the
country. This policy also helps to increase access to the decentralized public
health system by establishing new infrastructure in deficient areas, and by
upgrading the infrastructure in the existing institutions. Ensuring, more
equitable access to health services across the social and geographical expanse
of the country.
5. NCC
(Charter for children), 2003
This policy highlights the Constitutional provisions
towards the cause of the children and the role of civil society, communities
and families and their obligations in fulfilling children’s basic needs. It
secures for every child its inherent right to be a child and enjoy a healthy
and happy childhood in this nation.
6. NPA
(National Plan of Action for Children) , 2005
This policy has the wide area of jurisdiction under
it. Such as, complete abolition of female feticide, female infanticide and
child marriage and ensuring the survival, development and protection of the
girl child, upholding and addressing the rights of children in difficult
circumstances.
